Abstract:

We present two ongoing projects on the assessment of entrepreneurship education, with a focus on entrepreneurial competencies.

The first is a conceptual study aimed at the development of a systemic model for the evaluation of entrepreneurial competencies. We use the validation process of an entrepreneurship project to structure and frame a set of entrepreneurial competencies, in order to assess their development. This is an alternative to current outcome-based assessment methodologies.

The second is a quasi-experimental study on the effect of entrepreneurship education in the development of entrepreneurial competencies. We exploit a feature of undergraduate curriculum to identify the effect of entrepreneurship education on the development of entrepreneurial competencies and, through them, entrepreneurial intention. Using a dif-in-dif design with a group of students who take the course voluntarily, and others who take it compulsorily, we attempt to isolate self-selection from the effect of formal training on entrepreneurial competencies.
